Crawlability
Search engines find pages by following links and reading sitemaps. Keep robots.txt permissive for important content, submit an accurate XML sitemap, and link every important page from somewhere relevant on your site.
Indexability
Not every crawled page is indexed. Use canonical tags to point duplicates at the preferred version, avoid accidental noindex tags, and return a genuine 404 or 410 status for pages that no longer exist.
Speed and Core Web Vitals
- Largest Contentful Paint — how quickly the main content appears
- Interaction to Next Paint — how quickly the page responds
- Cumulative Layout Shift — how stable the layout is while loading
Mobile and rendering
Google indexes the mobile version of your site. Make sure the mobile page has the same content as desktop, and that key content is present in the HTML rather than loaded only by JavaScript.
Structured data
Schema markup helps search engines understand entities on a page. Only mark up information that is visible to users and accurate — never fake reviews or ratings.
Migrations and redirects
When URLs change, map every old URL to its closest new equivalent with a single 301 redirect. Avoid chains and loops, and monitor Search Console closely afterwards.
